Q: Do you offer glass service in my area?

A: Yes, we offer in shop auto service. We believe a controlled environment is essential to top-quality auto service, therefore we do not offer mobile service. However, we will be more than happy to pick up and deliver your vehicle back to you when the work is complete. When working on commercial or residential glass jobs, we can come to your site assess the job and return to complete the job as soon as possible.

Q: I don't know anything about auto insurance coverage. Can you help me?

A: Yes, we will be more than happy to help you with your glass claim. Let us handle all of the paperwork for you. You can call your insurance company and report the damage or you can come in and we can put you on a three-way call with your insurance company and walk you through the process. When you call your insurance company, they may try to convince you to use another glass company, please let them know that Glassco is handling the claim for you. Did you know that under South Carolina State Law, SECTION 38-57-75, you have the right to choose the glass shop that does your repair or replacement? You do, instead of being told where to go, you can tell your insurance company who you want to use. Nice to have the freedom to choose! We will set up a three-way call for you so we can get your glass claim handled as quickly as possible. Come in or call!  

Q: What are your store hours?

A: Glassco Inc. is opened Monday thru Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm Closed on Saturday and Sunday. Appointments are available during these hours.

Q: Are the technicians at Glassco Inc. qualified?

A: Yes, it is very important to us to know that our technicians are certified. They have been carefully trained with the skills needed to properly remove and install auto glass, store fronts, mirrors & plastics.  

Q: Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

A: Yes, we warranty our products and craftsmanship. Guaranteed for as long as you own or lease your vehicle.  

Q: How long have you been in business?

A: Glassco has been serving Sumter and the surrounding area since 1986. We have been committed to providing quality glass service for over 35 years.  

Q: How long will my auto glass repair or replacement take?

A: We can schedule your glass service for the same day in many cases or the next day. Our trained technicians can assess the service required and give you an idea of how long it will take to complete the service. Windshield repairs usually take 30 to 45 minutes, sometimes less. Windshield replacements usually take about an hour. 

Q: Can I drive my vehicle as soon as the repair or replacement is done?

A: You can typically drive as soon as your repair is complete, but a windshield replacement needs a setup time. To ensure the glass stays free from movement during this time, we ask you not to drive for at least one hour after the service is complete. Your total wait time including setup time is about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. If extra time is needed our technician will let you know.   

Q: Is there a chance that a windshield chip will become larger during the course of the repair? 

A: Yes, sometimes. Our technicians will take every precaution to insure it doesn't. When the repair is complete, the windshield should pass any state inspection. Rarely, the chip gets worse but if it does, we will deduct the cost of the chip repair from the windshield replacement cost.  

Q: Will the windshield chip repair be invisible after the repair is complete?

A: No. The repair is usually done so the damage will not progress into a bigger problem. Every chip is different, but upon completion of the repair, the windshield should appear much better than before the service was done.

Q: Why complete a chip repair? Why not replace the windshield? 

A: Glassco Inc. considers your safety very important. Repairing the chip means leaving the factory seal around your windshield unbroken. Repair also makes the windshield basically reliable again and avoids further damage. Many insurance companies will cover chip repair in full with no cost to you.  

Q: What if I'm not sure whether the auto glass can be repaired?

A: We can help you with that decision. One of our trained technicians can assess the damage and give you their expert opinion. Depending on the size of the break, our technician will assess the damage and decide on the repair options.  

Q: What is the difference between OEE and OEM auto glass?

A: OEE means Original Equipment Equivalent. This glass is made with the same principles, but by a different manufacturer. OEM means Original Equipment Manufacturer. This glass is made by the same manufacturer as your original glass. All of the glass used by Glassco Inc. meets all federal, safety and industry standards.  PLEASE NOTE: We may ask you to bring your car by prior to your replacement appointment so we can actually look at the windshield and be sure we are ordering the correct glass for your car. With the ever-changing auto glass industry, models will often have many different options.

Q: What about the inspection stickers, etc. on my windshield? Will you replace them?

A: Yes, if at all possible. We will remove and replace the inspection sticker but some states do not allow the inspection sticker to be re-applied after windshield replacement. Check with your state highway department for information on this matter. They usually ask that you purchase another inspection sticker within 3 to 5 days after the windshield has been replaced.

Q: What about service if I don't have insurance?

A: We accept Cash, Checks, Visa, Discover, or Mastercard.
